HOW LANGUAGE FEATURES ARE ESSENTIAL FOR A GOOD WRITING

 


What is the Definition of language features?

Language is an effective way of communication through which the writers and poets convey their thoughts. It is an important part of our lives. Each language has its own features and poets and writers use language features and literary devices while writing. You should have gained the knowledge of language features so that you can understand the perspectives and views of authors and writers.  

With the help of language features, one can present one's ideas in different forms. You can create all types of writing, documents, academic papers, and so on by using language features.

 In this blog, we will discuss the different types of language features that the writers used to convey their thoughts. 

 List of Language Feature

 

·        Active Listening- It is a form of listening technique that creates effective communication. It can be used in counseling, training, and resolving problems. In active listening, the listener focus on understanding, respond and remembering what is said. 

 

·        Adjective-An adjective is a word that shows quality. For example- She is a good girl.


·        Positive Adjective- A positive adjective is an adjective that indicates the quality of people, place, and things. Ex- This is a nice dress. 


·        Comparative Adjective-You can compare the two adjectives comparative adjective. Ex- He is shorter than his brother.


·        Superlative Adjective-It is used to compare more than two quantities or qualities like people, things, etc. Ex- Ronaldo is the best footballer in the world.


·        Descriptive-Descriptive adjective qualifies the noun and pronoun words like beautiful, silly, tall, etc. Ex- She is a beautiful girl.


·        Quantitative-It represents the qualities of things. Ex- I have two pens. 


·        Demonstrative-It describes which noun or pronoun refers to. The words like this, that, those, these are demonstrative pronouns. Ex- This is your bicycle.


·        Possessive-The possessive adjectives show possession. It represents to whom a thing belongs. Some of the common possessive adjectives are my, his, her, their, your, our, etc.


·        Interrogative-The interrogative adjectives are used for asking questions to someone. Some of the interrogative adjectives words are as what, which, who, why, etc. Ex- Which song do you like most? 


·        Distributive-The adjectives used to describe specific members out of a group. Some of the common distributive adjectives include each, every, either, neither, and any. Ex- Every student nee to perform well in the exam.     

 

·        Articles-Articles are used to describe which noun you are relating to. There are three types of articles A, An, and The.


·        Adverb- It is the word or phrase that modifies the meaning of an adjective, verb, or another adverb.

Example- She sings beautifully. (Verb)

They are truly fascinating. (Adjective)

She reads slowly. (Another Adverb)

 

·        Alliteration-The repetition of the occurrence of the same word or letter at the starting of closely related words are alliterations. Ex-Black bug bit a big black bear.


·        Simile-It compares one thing with others using words ‘like or as’.

 Conclusion

Therefore, knowledge of language features is essential for everyone whether you are a student or a professional.
