Before driving in answers, the first starts from its basics what are linking words? Simply, those words link two or more sentences or phrases are called "linking words".

1 Smith is a beautiful and smart girl, here and connects two things. Called connecting words.

2 The train had left before she arrived here before is a transition word

3 If you work hard then achieve an A+ mark. Here if, then both are conjunction words.

4 You must run fast in the market, else skip the opportunities. Here else is the linking word.

There are two types of linking words 1. Co-ordinating conjunction 2. Subordinating conjunction.

In this post, we only discuss a part of co-ordinating conjunctions only

Coordinating connect two freedom sentences both itself meaning but it connects by yet, but and. It has four kinds.

Commutative linking words: it connects two sentences with the help of and, as well as to and no less than, etc.

Alternative linking words: it connects choices of words sentences it forced to choose one thing by either, or, else, etc.

Adversative linking words: It connects two opposite sentences. By but, yet, still, only, however, and nevertheless.

Illative Conjunctions: One sentence depends on other sentences that kind phases connected by illative words.  By for, therefore, so, then, etc.
